RULES & GUIDELINES
By submitting nominations, you are acknowledging that you have read these rules. Therefore, please read these rules very carefully. If you have any questions, please email me at foxestacado@gmail.com
BEFORE SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS
- ALL VIDEOS MUST BE UPLOADED TO A PRIVATE SERVER, YOUTUBE, OR A LONG-TERM HOSTING SERVICE: We are not accepting videos uploaded to Yousendit.com or any hosting service that expires before the end of voting. We will not change or update your video links once you have submitted a nomination application.
- IF YOU ARE SUBMITTING SOMEONE ELSE'S VIDEOS: Please ask the original vidder for permission. It is part of nomination ettiquette. If a vidder contacts us and asks for his/her video to be removed, it will be removed without notification.
VALID/LEGAL NOMINATIONS
Any video that is found in violation of the following rules will be taken off of the nominations list without notification.
- ALL VIDEOS MUST BE MADE PUBLIC BETWEEN JANUARY 1ST, 2006 AND DECEMBER 14TH, 2006. Videos that are made public prior to these dates may not be nominated.
- ALL VIDEOS MUST BE RELATED TO THE X-FILES OR ACTORS INVOLVED IN THE X-FILES. Videos MAY contain footage from other television shows/movies, other sources.
- VIDEOS THAT USE FOOTAGE STOLEN FROM OTHER VIDDERS' VIDEOS ARE BANNED: Part of the vidding process is ripping, encoding, and editing your own footage. It is against general vidding ettiquette to take footage from other vidders' videos without permission. It is also unoriginal and exploitative. There is zero tolerance for clip piracy/theft here.
- VIDEOS THAT FEATURE ANY PORTION OF TUD'S XF BLOOPER DVDS ARE BANNED: It is against Tud's wishes for the footage on his DVDs to be avaliable online or used in any manner. Since he is the owner of that footage and he has contributed tremendously to the XF fan community, we respect his wishes.
- VIDEOS MAY BE ANY LENGTH OR SIZE.
SUBMITTING NOMINATIONS
For your convenience, there are 3 ways to submit nominations. Nominations will only be accepted until 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time, US), December 14th, 2006
- TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS BY ONLINE FORM: Please fill out the form completely (i.e. be sure to supply the name of the video, category, vidder name, and video link for each nomination). Incomplete forms will be disregarded. This option allows you to nominate between 1-5 videos. If you have more videos to nominate, feel free to submit multiple forms.
- TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS BY EMAIL: You MUST include all of the following information about each video: name of video, category, vidder name, video link. If your nomination email is lacking any information, it will be disregarded. Please write "2006 BEST OF THE BEST VIDEO NOMINATIONS" in the subject heading of the email, and send to foxestacado@gmail.com
- TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS BY LIVEJOURNAL: Please go to XF Fanfilm Community and fill out the nomination application completely.

There are now 17 categories. I will not be adding any more categories.

- BEST MYTHARC
- BEST MULDER-SCULLY RELATIONSHIP
- BEST HUMOR
- BEST ALTERNATE REALITY - a non-canon narrative
- BEST CHARACTER-CENTERED - i.e. videos mostly about Mulder, Scully, LGM, Mulder & Samantha, Scully & Emily, etc.
- BEST TRAILER/PROMO
- BEST EPISODE-BASED - also includes videos based on FTF
- BEST DOGGETT-REYES RELATIONSHIP
- BEST OTHER-SHIPS - i.e. Scully/Doggett, Mulder/Krycek, etc
- BEST ACTOR-CENTERED - does not have to pertain to The X-Files
- BEST CROSS-OVER - i.e. CSI meets The X-Files
- BEST MUSIC
- BEST EDITING/ARRANGEMENT
- BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR
- BEST VIDEO CREATOR OF THE YEAR
Nominated videos will be added to the Nominations page whenever I can update the site (only on weekends). In the meantime, you may go to the Nominations Watch List @ XF Fanfilm to see what videos have been nominated.
I need volunteers to watch the nominated videos and keep an eye out for nomination violations. If you are interested, please email me at foxestacado@gmail.com
- Watch EVERY video in each category you will be voting in. You are not required to vote in every category. Therefore, if you have not watched ALL of the videos in a category, DO NOT vote for a video in that category! This rule ensures that all videos have an equal opportunity.
- Only vote once! Your email, name, and IP address will be logged for every vote that comes in. However, your votes will remain confidential, and will never be released so you may vote with confidence. Please do not try to cheat the system. If you vote more than once, I will void and delete ALL of your votes.
- You may not redo your votes. Once you have voted, it is final. For this reason, please check your votes very carefully and thoroughly before submitting. If you have any questions about a specific category, please email me.
- Vote according to the category! If the category is "Best Editing/Arrangement," please make your decision based on the quality of editing and arrangment. Do not base your decision on a personal bias, such as preferring Mulder/Scully videos over all other types of videos. Please base your decision based on the quality of the video. Please be as objective as you can. This contest is meant to recognize quality vid-making, and not popularity.
- You may not vote for your own video. If you are nominated in a category, you may not vote for your own video. You may choose to abstain (or choose "Nominee"), or vote for another video. If I discover you are voting for your own videos, ALL of your votes will be voided and deleted.
- Your video may be removed from the nominees and voting list if it is found to be in clear violation of the Rules & Guidelines.
